How to install Google Chrome

Google Chrome is the most used browser in the world - in this tutorial I will explain how to install Google Chrome

How to install Google Chrome

Google Chrome is the most used browser in the world. On the other hand, the user experience it offers, net of a not always perfect use of RAM, is excellent: everything works properly and you can browse the Web quickly and without problems. Put simply, nothing to do with that pre-installed browser that is "driving you crazy". By fully understanding that feeling you get when buying a new computer - for that reason, I'm here to help.

In fact, in this tutorial I will explain how to install Google Chrome . It does not matter the operating system from which you want to perform this operation: whether you are using Windows, macOS, Linux, Android or iOS / iPadOS, you will find bread for your teeth and you will be able to "get your hands" in a short time on the browser of " Big G ”, taking advantage of its automatic updates and advanced features and its cross-platform synchronization that have convinced users who use it every day on their devices.

What do you say? Are you ready to put that slow pre-installed browser aside and install Chrome? In my opinion, yes. If you are ready, then, take a few minutes of free time and follow the instructions below. I can assure you that the operation to be carried out is short and within everyone's reach. That said, there is nothing left for me to do, except wish you good reading and good download!

Preliminary information

Before going into the details of the procedure on how to install Google Chrome , I think you might be interested in learning more about the various browser versions available.

In fact, contrary to what one might think, there are different versions of the program, intended for different types of users.

  • Chrome Stable - this is the main version of the program, recommended for most users. It is probably this version of the browser that interests you, as it can be used without problems in many contexts and the developers test the features properly before releasing them in a stable way.
  • Chrome Beta - if you are a bit of a "geek" user, constantly looking for news and can't wait to try the new features introduced in Chrome, you might be interested in using the Beta version of the browser. The developers are in fact used to test the features in the latter before releasing them in a stable way. By using the Beta version you will therefore always be "one step ahead" of the others, but keep in mind that it is a test, so you may encounter small problems while using Chrome. If you are a passionate user who knows this world well you will not have too many problems, but I do not recommend using the Beta version in the workplace, as you may encounter quite a few "headaches". Read more here .
  • Chrome Dev - is a version of the browser intended specifically for developers. It is constantly updated and is designed to allow developers to carry out all the necessary tests. Chrome Dev, for this, is not entirely stable, but it does allow developers to access the various features in advance. I strongly advise against this version for everyday use. More details here .
  • Chrome Canary- it is a version that is generally used by developers or in any case by very passionate users, who know the world of browsers inside out and always want to stay up to date on the latest news. To be clear, Canary can be defined as a sort of alpha version of Google's browser, which contains what users will see in the future, or perhaps never see, in the more stable versions (precisely because they are experimental features). Between experimental functions and various tests, the browser may not work as it should at any moment. Chrome Canary winks only at those who know where to "put their hands" in case of problems: I absolutely do not recommend using this version at work or even just for everyday use.More details here .

How to install Google Chrome on PC

After telling you which browser versions exist, I'd say it's time to take action and actually explain how to get started using Google Chrome on your computer . Obviously, in this context I will explain how to install the stable version of the browser , but in reality the procedure to follow does not change much even for the other versions.

How to install Google Chrome on Windows 10 PC

One of the operating systems on which Google Chrome is most used is clearly Windows 10 . Therefore, I am going to explain to you how to install using this OS, even if in reality the procedure is essentially the same if you are wondering, for example, how to install Google Chrome on a PC with Windows 7 or on a later version of the operating system. Microsoft.

To proceed, connect to the Google Chrome website using the pre-installed browser or another browser of your choice (eg Microsoft Edge ), choose whether or not to check the Help us improve Google Chrome box (to send anonymously to "Big G ”Usage statistics and crash reports) and click the Download Chrome button (and possibly the Accept and Install button ). By doing so, the download will start.

At this point, open the ChromeSetup.exe file obtained and click on the Yes button . Therefore, wait for the installer to download some additional files useful for the correct functioning of the program and then Chrome will welcome you. Perfect, now you can safely start using the browser, searching or typing the address of the portal to visit via the URL bar at the top.

In short, installing Google Chrome on Windows is child's play. In some cases, especially initially, you may be asked to press the Accept button (or similar), in order to set all the privacy options and accept the license terms , but otherwise you shouldn't have any problems starting to browse the web .

How to install Google Chrome on Mac

Do you use a Mac and are you tired of Safari or for some reason you need to use Google Chrome too ? No problem: contrary to what one might think, in reality everything is very simple even in this case.

The steps to be carried out are in fact few: just connect to the official Chrome site via another browser (for example the aforementioned Safari) and press the Download Chrome button . At this point, you will have to choose if you want to download the version for Mac with Intel chip or for Mac with Apple chip (eg M1 ). In this way, you will get the googlechrome.dmg file . You just have to open the latter and drag the Chrome icon to the Applications folder of your Mac.

At the first start you will be asked to accept the license terms , to type the administration password , to choose whether to send statistical data and whether to set Chrome as the default browser , but that's all: you have correctly installed the Google browser on macOS.

How to install Google Chrome on Linux

How do you say? Your PC is animated by a Linux distribution and would you like to proceed with the installation of Chrome on the latter? No problem, I'll explain immediately what you can do. If you are wondering, for example, how to install Google Chrome on Ubuntu , this is the part of the tutorial for you.

To proceed, go to the official Chrome portal and click on the Download Chrome button , checking the box 64 bit .deb (for Debian / Ubuntu) or 64 bit.rpm (for Fedora / openSUSE) and pressing the Accept and install button .

Then, if you are using, for example, Firefox to perform this operation, you will have to first press on the Save file item and then on the OK one . After that, just go through the .deb or .rpm file obtained above to proceed with the installation.

To give you a concrete example, the appropriate Software Center will open on Ubuntu and all you have to do is press the Install button , eventually confirming the administration password , to install the browser.

In short, installing Chrome on a Linux distribution is not that complex. In any case, for more information , for the open source question and for the terminal method , you can refer to my tutorial on how to install Chrome on Ubuntu , in which I went into further detail.

How to install Google Chrome on smartphones and tablets

If you would like to synchronize browsing data with the Google browser on smartphones and tablets and, therefore, use the latter even on the move, in the following paragraphs you will find all the information you need.

How to install Google Chrome on Android

The Android operating system is developed by Google, so it is clear that the Chrome browser is very popular on this platform.

Among other things, in this context, generally the official Chrome app is pre-installed on Android devices : this means that you just need to take a look at the icons on the Home screen or the drawer (the page where all the apps installed on the device) to find the browser and be able to start it immediately, using the appropriate multicolored icon .

Alternatively, you can start the Play Store (the icon with the colored ▶ ︎ symbol), search for "google chrome" , tap the browser icon and press the Install / Open / Update button . If you want to do this first, you can also visit the Chrome page in the Play Store by clicking on this link from your device.

In short, everything is very simple on Android, as Google clearly has an interest in "pushing" the browser within its operating system. In any case, I remind you that in the same way you can possibly proceed with the installation of the Chrome Beta , Chrome Dev and Chrome Canary versions , which I illustrated in the initial chapter .

Otherwise, if you have an Android device without the Play Store (and Google services in general), unfortunately there isn't much you can do. In fact, the absence of Google services would not make the entire data synchronization experience via Gmail account usable. If you feel like it, you can still try to install the Play Store and get Chrome from it as seen above.

How to install Google Chrome on iPhone and iPad

If you intend to browse the Web with Chrome from an iPhone or iPad , you can install the appropriate official application through the App Store (Apple's official digital store, accessible via the blue icon with the letter "A" that you find on the Home screen).

In fact, you just need to open the store, search for “google chrome” , press the application icon and tap the GET button , then verifying your identity via Face ID, Touch ID or Apple ID password. If you want to do this first, you can also visit this link directly from your device.

Once the download has finished, just press the OPEN button or tap the Chrome icon on the Home screen (or in the app Library). By doing this, you can start using the browser right away. All very simple, right?

How to install Google Chrome on Smart TV

If you are wondering, for example, how to install Google Chrome on Android TV , this part of the guide is for you. In fact, I am going to explain how to install the Chrome browser on this type of TV.

In fact, you must know that it is possible to carry out this operation, but only on those televisions that have the Play Store (therefore Android TV ). Alternatively, you could make use of a TV Box that has Google's official digital store (there are several on the market, including cheap ones).

Put simply, if you are wondering, for example, how to install Google Chrome on LG Smart TVs or how to install Google Chrome on Samsung Smart TVs , you need to know that it is not possible to do this natively. You might in fact think of passing for a TV Box, as I said earlier, but the operating systems integrated by this type of TV do not allow you to access the official app of the "Big G" browser.

That said, generally in solutions that have Google services, Chrome is pre-installed (the icon is often found on the main screen). Alternatively, to understand if the app is actually pre-installed or proceed with the installation on a compatible Android TV / TV Box, just start the Play Store , search for "google chrome" and press first on the most relevant result and then on the Install / Update / Open .

By doing so, the download and installation will eventually start , which will be carried out automatically . After that, just press the Open button to start using the browser normally.

How to install Google Chrome on Fire Stick

How do you say? Have you just bought an Amazon Fire TV Stick and would like to use Google Chrome through it? I'll explain immediately what you can do.

In this case, I can only refer you to my guide on how to install apps on Fire Stick : you may find some procedure that could be for you. In any case, as far as I'm concerned I do not recommend going for third-party solutions , as they may not work correctly or lead to possible security problems .

In short, some users have managed to install Google Chrome on the Fire TV Stick, but maybe that's not exactly the best of ideas.
